And, yes, it’s every bit as bad in person as you’re imagining. But get used to it, because they’re probably going to sell tons.

If they manage to shoehorn the IS200T’s 240hp 2.0 in the C-HR, I might just be down for it.

I don’t mind that.

Is this like when they said the Honda HR-V would be everywhere? Yet I’ve only ever seen two in the wild... (In Canada anyways).

These are too expensive for what they are. I think Toyota is just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks...

I quite like them, quite Juke-ish.
I don’t know why they omitted the rear fog light.

Passive-aggressive marginally skilled Seattle area “drivers” will buy more than a few.

It’s only in Europe where rear fogs are mandatory, for other markets they just remove it for cost cutting reasons. I really hate how the radio sticks up like that and the digital clock next to it, it’s also gonna be really claustrophobic in the back.

At this point why even have windows

I would of thought it would be just have them on all cars though.
The centre console appears to be the way many are going these days with the look of a tablet computer glued to the dashboard.
It’ll be hard on the back. But I felt more claustrophobic in the rear of a Jeep Renegade with the seats being so upright and lack of leg room, etc...

While there are some similarities to the the Juke like the rear door handle and puffy fenders, I think the Juke is a much more cohesive and attractive design. Also, isn’t that a rear fog light bottom center?

That would be fun. I give it a 1% chance.

It’s on a wheelbase 1" longer and over 2" longer overall than th HR-V. It’s a bigger vehicle and that should help. But you’re right, just because crossovers are hot doesn’t mean every one is going to sell. The Mazda CX-3 is also pretty invisible despite the CX-5 being everywhere.

I think the Juke prepared me for a car like this, lessened the shock if you will.
There is a fog light on the U.K. car I posted but I can’t see one on the OPs car he photographed.

But it’s a “coupe” so it’s worth more! Yeah being $2k more expensive than the HR-V and Juke isn’t going to help. It’s also not much cheaper than a CR-V or RAV4 which reallllly isn’t going to help. On a side-note, I think Toyota has a long history of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks... RAV4 convertibles, rebadged Mazdas, the Previa, AWD Celicas, fuel cell cars, the Lexus LFA, T100 pickup, the entire Scion brand, etc.

Also, looking at the Toyota site, it appears the only trim right now is XLE. If they come out with an LE for $19,900 that doesn’t cut too much equipment out it will be a lot more competitive. They are oddly positioning it as a premium product at launch though.

Ahh gotcha saw the fog light in the press photo you posted but missed that there wasn’t one in the picture up top. Yeah odd that they would save a few pennies to cut out the rear fog light but they did. Almost no cars have them here in the US where there aren’t required. I think Volvo and Audi have them, but since they are rare here most people who have them probably don’t even know how to turn them on and I never see them.

Ironically, the rag-top Rav4s, AWD Celicas, LFA, T100, are all incredibly sought after now.

Over here a rear fog light is mandatory. Front fog lights aren’t, but easily fitted if you want them.
Audi should have rear ones as standard.
If the rear fog light isn’t in the middle, there will be at least one, and always on the drivers side. So RHD cars have them on the right. Most noticeable on the Mk2 Ford Focus where it has a fog light on the right and a reversing light on the left, both with a reflector strip above them.

I want a ragtop RAV4 with a manual so bad. They actually aren’t that expensive, but finding one that hasn’t been completely trashed is hard.

I see quite a few HR-V’s down here, but still nothing compared to the new CR-V. They. Are. EVERYWHERE.

It saves a few cents per car, and nobody in the US knows how to use a rear fog light, because almost no cars here have one, so we don’t have campaigns like this:

I believe they rolled out in Europe and Japan before the US, so that makes sense. This is the first one I’ve seen and right now there is only one trim and engine choice here as they are just starting to hit the streets.

Here in the US, HR-Vs are everywhere. I’m actually seeing more of them than I do the new CR-V.

Ive driven a few for work.
They’re not bad, but not great. If they put the 2.5 from the Camry or a 1.5 turbo and with about 180hp in it, they would be much better. It’s like a slower Juke with fewer interior rattles.

Slower Juke with less rattles... pretty much what I’d expect from Toyota.

That passenger window is tiny. How’s the rear visibility? It seems like it would be poor.
